Bridge Builders Summer 2021

Summer enrollment for new SCC families opens on March 22!

Our Bridge Builders programs are designed for 3- to 6-year old children looking to gain the necessary skills to be socially successful at school and at play.  Our Bridge Builders buddies are highly verbal and have essentially age appropriate language skills, but demonstrate challenges in social communication (with adults and/or peers), participation in group activities, and play skills.  Our daily schedule includes direct teaching, structured games, and facilitated play in semi-structured group time in the classroom and on the indoor playground.

Throughout our daily activities and over the course of the semester, skills developed include social conversation, emotional regulation, coordinated joint play, and social cognition.  Intervention techniques utilized will include social narratives and elements of the SCERTS model (Prizant, Wetherby, Rubin, & Laurent) and Social Thinking (Michelle Garcia Winner) as appropriate to the individual children in the group.

Each class will be led by a certified speech-language pathologist and may also be supported by graduate students in speech-language pathology from the UTD-Callier Center for Communication Disorders. Class size will be limited to 6 children.

Bridge Builders I programming is for children fitting the description above who are 3-4 years old.  For younger campers or those for whom verbal abilities continue to be more of a challenge, check out our Building Blocks summer camps!

Bridge Builders II programming is for children fitting the description above who are 5-6 years old.

All classes will be held at our SCC Clinic, located at 4600 Greenville Avenue, Suite 160, Dallas, Texas 75206

Bridge Builders enrollment is offered one- to two-times per week for 2 summer sessions. Enrollment in either or both sessions is welcome, pending availability.

Bridge Builders I: 3- to 4-year olds

Bridge Builders II: 5- to 6-year olds
