Our treatment philosophy is use of current, evidence-based practices to provide individualized service to the children enrolled in each group, taking into consideration his/her developmental level, language abilities, and treatment priorities. We pride ourselves on service in a fun, welcoming environment that prioritizes making each camper feel comfortable, respected, and loved.
Each class will be led by 1-2 speech-language pathologists; and may also be supported by graduate students in speech-language pathology from the UTD-Callier Center for Communication Disorders. Class size will be limited to 5-6 children, varied by age and ability level.
Summer 2021 Group Programs
Building Blocks is designed for 2- to 5-year old children with difficulties in language, sensory/emotional regulation, and/or social communication development. This summer, in order to allow each child access to his/her best fit peers as well as highly individualized curriculum written to his/her unique needs, we will offer two levels of Building Blocks programming, Building Blocks I and Building Blocks II , grouped by age and ability level. Skills developed during activities include developmentally appropriate speech and language targets, participation in group activities, and the building blocks to emerging social conversation. Enrollment is Monday-Thursday from 9-11:30 am for three summer sessions.
Bridge Builders I is social skills program for children 3-4 years of age who have challenges in social communication, emotional regulation, social conversation, and play skills. Curriculum will also include elements of Social ThinkingTM. Offered as a one- or two-time per week class on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-4:00 pm (enrolled by mini-mester). Our group programs are tuition-based, private pay programs. While we do not submit to insurance companies, your tuition may be reimbursable by your insurance company under your out-of-network benefits for group speech-language therapy (CPT code: 92508). We encourage you to contact your insurance company with any questions.
Please note: If you are a new client to SCC, we require a 30-minute intake consultation ($75) to occur prior to camp to assure placement in the correct group, and to set appropriate targets for your individual child for his/her time in camp. Additionally, for enrollment in Building Blocks, we also require a recent (within 6 months) speech-language evaluation.
