Wee Builders, also affectionately known as “Toddler TWO’sday/Thursdays,” is a classroom-based toddler program focusing on developing speech-language, social communication, and play skills with peers. Intervention techniques utilized are current evidence-based practices to facilitate speech-language development, and are consistent with It Takes Two to Talk (Hanen) and the SCERTS model (Prizant, Wetherby, Rubin, & Laurent), as appropriate to the individual children in the group.
Our daily schedule will include typical early preschool activities such as circle time, free-play/center time, snack, art/sensory play, structured small group activities, and outdoor play. Skills developed during activities will include developmentally appropriate speech and language targets, play, and classroom skills.
Each class will be led by a certified speech-language pathologist, and supported by speech-language pathology assistant, and/or graduate students in speech-language pathology. Class size will be limited to 5 children.
WHO: 2-year olds with delayed speech and/or language development, and/or challenges in social communication.
WHEN: Classes will be held Tuesday/Thursday 9-11 am. Our semester will run August 28 – December 6. (No classes during the week of Thanksgiving)
WHERE: SCC Clinic (aka, The SCC Playhouse), located at 8100 Lomo Alto Dr., Suite 125, Dallas, TX 75225.
